ABOUT US

NextGen Foundation: Transforming African Lives Through Sports

Nextgen Sports Academy Foundation

At NextGen Foundation, we believe sport has the power to change lives, but true champions are built when education, health, and opportunity come together.

We are a Christian-founded organization and see this work as part of serving God by caring for children, developing character, and restoring hope through sport.

Founded in 2020 as the social-impact arm of NextGen Sports Academy, our mission is to open doors for children from low-income and underserved communities by giving them access to quality education, daily nutrition, healthcare, and world-class sports training.

Our vision is a generation of young African champions, not just in sport, but in life, who are educated, healthy, disciplined, and empowered to lead change in their communities.

OUR PILLARS

Our Approach

Our Approach

We use sport as the entry point, but our goal goes far beyond the playing field. Every child under our care receives integrated support that nurtures both their talent and their future:

  • Education – We pay full school fees, provide uniforms, books, and materials, and ensure every child stays in school and learns without interruption.

  • Health & Nutrition – Over 5,000 nutritious meals are served every year, alongside regular health checkups and wellness support to keep children active, focused, and thriving.

  • Sport and Athletic Development
Through structured training, competition pathways, and leadership development in sport, we build disciplined and resilient athletes who learn teamwork, focus, and personal responsibility on and off the field.

  • Mentorship and Character Development
Through intentional mentorship grounded in Christian values, we support young people in developing character, purpose, and moral responsibility.

By combining these four pillars, we turn sport into a gateway to education, health, and empowerment — developing champions who carry the values of perseverance, integrity, and leadership into every part of their lives.

Our Impact

The results speak for themselves.

  • Over 50 children from Kibera and similar low-income communities now receive full support including school fees, meals, coaching, and mentorship

  • Academic performance has improved as children stay in school longer and focus better in class.

  • Health outcomes are stronger, with fewer absences and greater energy and confidence.

  • Athletes like Hope (14), once on the verge of dropping out, now lead their teams, excel in class, and inspire others to dream big.

Each success story reminds us that when we invest in one child, we lift an entire family and strengthen an entire community.

EmpowerHER Girl Accelerator program

The EmpowerHER Girls Accelerator Program is one of NextGen Foundation’s flagship initiatives dedicated to strengthening the participation and leadership of girls in sport. It provides mentorship, life-skills training, and structured athletic development to help young girls gain confidence, resilience, and a sense of purpose. By using sport as a platform for empowerment, the program ensures that girls from underserved communities have equal access to opportunities, grow as leaders, and become catalysts for positive change in their families and society.

DONATIONS

Your generous donations are instrumental in helping us realize our vision across our key pillars. Every donation, regardless of size, supports our efforts to reduce non-communicable diseases, promote mental health, and advance gender equality through sports.

We sincerely appreciate your support in building a healthier, more equitable future for all.

Mental Health Matters

Mental health is a crucial aspect of overall well-being, and our programs are designed to nurture it. We integrate mental wellness into our sports programs through:

  •  Mental Health Sessions During Sports Practice: Including mental health talks during each session to monitor emotional well-being and address any concerns.
  •  Monthly Specialist Visits: Hosting monthly sessions with specialists focusing on mental health and early detection of issues such as suicidal thoughts.
  • Peer and Mentorship Support Networks: Creating peer support groups and mentorship programs to offer emotional support and monitor mental health.
  • Regular Check-ins: Coaches conduct regular mental health check-ins to monitor for signs of distress.
  • Parent and Guardian Involvement: Holding quarterly parent meetings to educate them on mental health, recognizing warning signs, and providing support.
